Joseph E. Clay Sr. is an American born now retired Mechanical Engineer. He now enjoys life as author/blogger/and entrepreneur along with being a Podcast Host. He is the second son of John Tillman Clay and Virginia Imajo Coalson.
Joseph now resides in Nashville, Tennessee with his significant other and youngest son.
Joseph, who was known in his early years as Eddie grew up playing baseball with his younger brother. He also studied martial arts and loved riding dirt bikes.
When he wasn’t being a daredevil he could be found in Newnan’s fabulous Court Square, sitting on the wraparound porch of the courthouse playing checkers with the older men of the town.
He never won a game but loved listening to the stories those wise men told of war, politics, love, broken hearts, and ghosts.
Those men taught Joseph that the truth is sometimes too unreal to believe, and in that case you improvise. Joseph soon acquired a knack for spinning tall tales that are more believable than the truth.
In 1977 Joseph suffered a horrific motorcycle wreck. This sidelined his aspirations of serving in the military, his education and put an end to the baseball career he dreamed of.
Joseph began to pen tales about any and everything while recovering from the accident.
Between the years of 1987 - 1998 Joseph was married and divorced three times. He has six wonderful kids, three boys and three girls. All six have grown up to be outstanding young men and women.
Before pursing his passion for writing professionally, Joseph worked in the field of Engineering for 30 plus years. During those years he was issued a DOD Top Secret Clearance and was responsible for several patents.
Joseph retired in 2014 due to health issues.
Before he entered the engineering field and during that time Joseph work in other professions.. Those jobs include:
Joseph began his writing career at the age of 53. Read ‘Numbers to Words: My Journey from Engineering to Writing’ that explains how a man who can’t spell wound up being a author. He published his first book Demons of the Jungle in May 2014.
Joseph's hobbies include:
For relaxation Joseph enjoys going to a theater to catch a play or ballet. However in Joseph.s opinion nothing can beat drinking a nice smooth glass of bourbon, straight up, while smoking a good cigar. He would prefer to do this from a beach chair watching the waves roll across the white sands of a beach.
